✨ Cicatrice: 3 essential tips for a beautiful recovery
A good healing depends not only on time... it depends mainly on what you do during that time. Here 3 professional advice, from the practice of Marie, our specialist in hand rehabilitation in Physiotherapy, to optimize the quality of your recovery.
1️ Self-massage
Adapt the massage to the appearance of your scar:
- Hypersensitive : gentle taps (martelage) to desensitize.
- Hypertrophic (thick, relief): slow massage supported by crushingNo friction.
- Member : Palper-sleep to remove the tissue.
- Cheloid : secondary massage, very soft and only if validated by a professional. Prefer gel/pants silicone or specific treatments.
💡 Tip: gently connect the banks during massage to guide healing and improve aesthetics.
2️ Moisture
- Recent author (flat, dew): Apply 2×/day a neutral cream, without perfume or alcohol.
- Hypertrophic : Use a cold cream to facilitate deep massage. To act on the thickness: prefer silicone gels/pants or specific creams on advice.
- Cheloid : hydration is not enough → silicone in priority, sometimes associated with dermatological treatments.
☀️ Solar protection: INDISPENSABLE — FPS 50+ even in the shade or in the weather, to be renewed every 2 hours in case of exposure.
3️ The signs to watch
A scar must gradually become more flexible, less red and less embarrassing.
⚠️ See if you see:
- persistent redness,
- rapid thickening,
- unusual pain,
- loss or discomfort of sensitivity,
- adhesions that limit movement.
📸 Tip: Take a photo every 7–10 days to follow the evolution.
If any of these signs appears, get closer to a healthcare professional.
