Riding back on horseback after a fall | Physio Corner
PHYSIOTHERAPY OF THE CAVALIER

Horse riding after a fall:
Why physiotherapy?

Falling is one of the risks of riding, but staying stuck after a fall is not a fatality. Even without a visible injury, pain or loss of confidence can hinder your recovery.

Pain & Rider

After a fall, pain and stiffness may persist. The body "locks" to protect itself, which limits your mobility to a horse.

Fear & Understanding

Loss of confidence or fear of going back is common. This anxiety can create involuntary muscle tensions that disrupt your communication with the horse.

Compensation

To avoid pain or reflex, you adopt postural compensation. It hurts your balance, your coordination and your "loose."

Why isn't waiting enough?

Understand the impact of the fall on your posture.

Riding a horse can be complicated, even without visible injury. Specialized physiotherapy allows the rider to be accompanied in a suitable way.

The goal is not only to remove pain, but to correct the compensations to regain good bodily sensations and prepare a progressive and secure horseback.

The Vicious Circle of the Fall

  • Initial shock: Physical and emotional trauma.
  • Defence: Muscle stiffness and locking.
  • Proprioception: Loss of benchmarks and balance.
  • To Horse: Rigid and insecure riding.

Comprehensive and personalized support

The physiotherapy of the rider does not treat just a symptom. We aim for fluid, comfortable and confident riding.

Relief & Release

The necessary step to break the cycle of pain.

  • Manual therapy: Relieve impact pain.
  • Mobility: Recovery of pelvis and back amplitude.
  • Correction: Treatment of installed compensations.

Strengthen & Re-educate

Prepare your body for a successful saddle return.

  • Specific strengthening: Gaining suitable for the rider.
  • Proprioception: Work of balance and coordination.
  • Mental: Accompaniment of apprehension related to the fall.
